The most important lesson
If you believe you cannot work, you should apply for disability and then appeal any denial. Two-thirds of applications are denied but more than half of the claimants who appeal are found disabled, so do not let rejection discourage you.

How much does our assistance cost?
Almost all of our North Carolina Social Security disability clients prefer a contingent fee, which is a fee paid only if they are awarded benefits.
The usual fee is 25% of back benefits up to a maximum amount set by the Social Security Administration, which is currently $6,000. That is, our fee is one-fourth of those benefits that build up by the time you are found disabled and benefits are paid. No fee is subtracted from your current monthly benefits.
In addition to the fee, you will be asked to reimburse us for our expenses in obtaining medical records, medical opinion letters, and the like.
